CANINE GOOD CITIZEN

All classes are for a period of 8 weeks

Canine Good Citizen Registration Form

The CGC is a certification program administered by the American Kennel Club. It is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community.
All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test receive a certificate from the AKC.

Prerequisite:

This is an advanced obedience class so your dog should be able to reliably perform the sit, down, stay, heel and come commands before you attend the first class. Training collars and treats can be used during class but are not allowed during the CGC test."

Please note: The CGC test is performed by an outside source. There is a separate fee of $10.00 that will need to be paid directly to the evaluator. Please do not add this amount to the course fee.

PUPPY CLASS:

Age(s): Puppies must be 12 weeks old by the first class

BASIC BEGINNER:

Age(s): Dogs 6 months+

These classes will introduce your pet to controlled walking and basic commands such as “Sit,” “Down,” “Stay,” “Come,” and “Don’t jump.” Dogs with aggression problems are not accepted (Call 560-4355 x 220 for consultation).


Note: The first session for puppy and basic beginner participants is a lecture class. No dogs. The lecture class will review techniques and answer questions. Immunization requirements: 2 Distemper/Parvo, Bordatella & Rabies

About the Instructor:

Linda Tilley, owner/operator of Falls Lake Kennels, has been teaching with DPR since 1991. She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and is endorsed by the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors. Linda works closely with local Rescue Organizations and Humane Societies helping to prepare animals for adoption


Canine Massage:

About the Class:


The class will be a combination of both lecture and hands on. Classes are structured into “all day” classes (approximately 6 hrs). Participants will learn canine massage fundamentals, as well as practice stroke techniques with their dogs. Dogs are invited to join their owners. Please bring a water bowl and bath mat/towel with you.

About the Instructor:


Sue King of Companion Chi will be the instructor of the classes.
Sue's credentials include over 1000 hrs of animal bodywork training from various institutions, including Pet Massage Training & Research Institute and the Lang Institute for Canine Massage. She is an active member of the International Association of Animal Massage & Bodywork (IAAMB), International Association of Animal Massage Therapists (IAAMT), and the International Alliance for Animal Therapy and Healing (IAATH).
