Welcome to the

Durham Dog Park

The City of Durham Parks and Recreation Department

The Durham dog park is open for business. The park is located in Piney Wood Park. Piney Wood City Park is located at the intersection of Woodcroft Parkway and Woodlake Drive (between Fayetteville Road and Barbee Road) at the back of the Woodlake subdivision in southwest Durham. The dog park has four distinct play areas spread over more than three acres of land. A small dog and puppy play area allows for small dogs and puppies to socialize without being overwhelmed by larger dogs. The large dog play area offers woods and field areas to play. A special play run area offers a separate space for organized activity such as specific breed play or activities such as agility or flyball. This area is available for scheduling. And finally, there is a smaller space ideal for working with your pet on special tasks such as obedience.

Animated Dog Running

Dog owners represent a large (and growing!) segment of the community. And while regular leash walks provide a level of exercise that promotes good dog health, access to open space for off-leash play and socialization is equally important. The Durham Dog Parks are multifunctional facilities designed to offer a safe and controlled environment for dogs and their owners. Enjoy the park!
